Potential the most elusive and gossip based shirt I’ve ever seen, not only does it podium controversy but strives for originality through interpretation and creative genuineness. Alright you got me it is not me in the picture but I, in hind sight, would of wore this shirt if it were in my procession and ‘if’ I had the ability to be original but like me and other artists featured in class brilliance comes from copying another’s work, “plagiarism” but I won’t say people’s names ( Kenneth Goldsmith).
Okay not only does this t-shirt say “Read books not t- shirts” which is pretty straight forward but it draws a line that proposes to stop advertising through clothing, and the ability branding has on everybody. Not only is it expensive but it’s manipulating, especially as a youth growing up, looking for brand ‘cool’ clothing is an easy way to access the ‘popular’ group. Since growing up a heavy consumer of brand clothes it is easy to see the damage it does to the average families’ pockets, and now that I’m not working and moved away from home I have a hard time buying this lifestyle that I’m use to. Now I shop at Walmart which is a mass corporation that has too much power in the business world, everybody wants the prices of Walmart but nobody wants to see the damage it causes on local business within the communities.
The ideology of brand clothes is someone with unique style putting their name, design, or signature on a piece of clothing and selling it for a price that is normally above main street clothing prices. This type of business can be good for an economy because it supports local artists and stops main street domination. The downside is the price and social boundaries it causes especially on the youth of our culture, which allows the families with money to dominate which ultimately brings together the wealthier kids, leaving the not so fortunate families in another group, which supports classification.
Anyways I thought this t- shirt had everything on it that needs to be on a T- Shirt Text shirt. It stands out, funny but serious depends whose reading and what they may be thinking about, it is adequate and remote. Okay it may not be the most elusive and gossip bases shirt but it got you interested. Overall decent shirt, not to mention the man wearing it highlights the potential of the message.
